What could be nicer than simply relaxing in the spa and wellness after a day full of discovery or a day with bad weather?
In the past few years, one or the other weekend trip has taken me to a wellness hotel. Wellness and spa hotels not only have the advantage that you can relax at the end of the day, but they also offer the optimal alternative program when the weather does not cooperate.
Are you looking for ideas and tips on where to relax and unwind? Perfect – this is exactly why I have put together this list of what I believe to be the most beautiful wellness hotels in Switzerland. From the summer wellness hotel on the lake to the perfect spa hotel for a relaxing wellness weekend, you will find a concentrated load of inspiration in the following line.
1. A wellness weekend at the Grand Hotel Quellenhof in Bad Ragaz
As a world health resort, Bad Ragaz should of course not be missing on this list. And if you are looking for an excellent wellness hotel in Bad Ragaz, you will find it in the Grand Hotel Quellenhof. The hotel belongs to the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and was completely renovated in 2019.
It is right next to the Tamina Therme and is one of the best wellbeing and medical health hotels in Europe. And “Wellbeing” is undoubtedly a top priority here. In addition to bathing in thermal water and the spa treatments, you can also indulge in culinary delights. There are two star restaurants to discover in the Grand Resort: the “IGNIV” and the “Memories”
And everyone who wants to earn all their “wellbeing” will find the right tips for activities in and around Bad Ragaz in our blog article. You can find prices and availability for the Grand Hotel Quellenhof here (Partnerlink).
2. 24-hour pampering program in THE wellness hotel in Central Switzerland
The most famous wellness and spa hotel in Central Switzerland? No, more likely the whole of Switzerland. We are talking about the luxurious Bürgenstock Resort. For a long time I was a bit skeptical (also with regard to the prices): Is it worth it?
My conclusion after my wellness weekend in the Bürgenstock: Yes, it’s worth it. The combination of the phenomenal location, the included services and the extensive wellness area ensure a well-deserved place on this list.
If you want, you can indulge yourself in the Bürgenstock for 24 hours and enjoy the incredible view of Lake Lucerne. In addition to the wellness offer, there are no fewer than 7 restaurants in the resort and the hotel is also suitable as a starting point for other activities (thanks to the free shuttle ship to Lucerne).
You can find the prices for the Bürgenstock here (Partnerlink).
3. Waldhaus Flims: The historically impressive wellness hotel
The next tip is a little gentler on the wallet: the Waldhaus Flims. Anyone who sees the historic hotel complex and what the Waldhaus Flims has to offer will understand why people came to these places in search of relaxation 140 years ago. The Waldhaus Flims is one of the best wellness hotels in Europe – absolutely deserved in my opinion.
The modern architecture of the Waldhaus Spa offers a nice contrast to the historical buildings of the hotel complex. And the wellness offer is impressive: the spa has an indoor pool, an outdoor adventure pool, a natural swimming pond, various saunas and steam baths. There is also an extensive range of treatments.
Another plus point for me is the fantastic location of the hotel as a starting point for walks, hikes and excursions – be it to Lake Cauma or via the Flims waterway to Segnesboden.
You can find more practical tips and information in our blog post about staying at Waldhaus Flims. The current prices are here (Partner link) to find.
4. Relax at the Kurhaus Cademario in the sunshine of Switzerland
When you hear about Ticino, you think first and foremost about good weather and warmer temperatures – but not necessarily about a relaxing weekend in a wellness hotel. I can only say to them: then you’ve never been to the Kurhaus Cademario.
The wellness area of the Kurhaus offers amenities such as a bio sauna, a hammam or a salt tepidarium. My personal highlight was clearly the outdoor pool with a view of Lake Lugano.
In general, the Kurhaus Cademario scores with wonderful views. It feels like it doesn’t matter where you are in the hotel – the magnificent panorama of the lake and the surrounding mountains awaits you everywhere.
You can find more about the wellness hotel in the blog post about the Kurhaus Cademario. The prices and availability are there here (Partnerlink).
5. Wellness in the Bernese Oberland in the Hotel Bellevue Adelboden
There are several wellness hotels in Adelboden that are eligible for a place on this list. I hesitated for a long time between The Cambrian and the Parkhotel Bellevue. To be honest, I can recommend both hotels.
But because only one of the two should be in the spotlight on this list, I decided on the Parkhotel Bellevue. Despite its long history (guests have been here since the beginning of the 20th century), the hotel impresses with its youthful freshness. I was particularly impressed by the skillfully furnished spacious rooms during our visit.
And the Parkhotel Bellevue doesn’t have to hide when it comes to wellness and cuisine. The hotel also has a great wellness area with a garden pavilion, an outdoor sauna and an outdoor solar bath with a particularly beautiful view of the Engstligen Falls. We couldn’t complain about the kitchen, which has been awarded 14 Gault Millau points, on the contrary.

6. The wellness hotel on the lake: Hotel Eden Roc Lago Maggiore
Wellness with a beach feeling in Switzerland? This is possible at the Hotel Eden Roc. Thanks to the extensive gardens with private beach (!), Two outdoor pools, various lounge corners and cozy retreats, you almost feel like you are in the Mediterranean.
The combination of a dream location, spa offer, stylishly furnished rooms and excellent food make the wellness hotel on the lake an absolute summer tip.
There is another plus point for the sustainability of the Hotel Eden Roc Lago Maggiore. As part of the Tschuggen Hotel Group since 2018, the hotel has been operated in a climate-neutral manner based on a collaboration with myclimate since 2019.
The Eden Roc has various room categories to choose from. The current prices are here (Partner link) to find.
7. Ski and wellness holidays in Chasa Montana Samnaun
Let’s be honest: what could be better than relaxing after a day on the boards in the sauna or steam room? The Relais & Château Chasa Montana Hotel & Spa is a charming 4-star superior hotel, one of the best addresses in the valley and is a ski and wellness hotel in one.
The Chasa Montana’s spa landscape includes 7 different saunas and steam baths, an outdoor brine bath with a fantastic mountain view and a bright sports pool with a hot tub. Who still needs après-ski there?
And because you want to recharge your batteries for the next day on the slopes, a good restaurant should not be missing. In Chasa Montana, four restaurants await the guests – including «La Miranda», which has been awarded a Michelin star and 16 Gault Millau points.
If you want to combine your skiing with a wellness holiday here, you should look the best here (Partner link), when there are still free rooms.
8. The alpine base with all amenities – the Chedi Andermatt
Another hotel in which wellness and spa can be combined with activities such as hiking or skiing is the Chedi Andermatt.
I’ve been there twice now and can say: The Chedi Andermatt is absolutely recommendable for everyone who would like to enjoy special accommodation with all the amenities that go with it.
The hotel is an ideal starting point for hikes or for going on the slopes in winter. And those who want to be pampered after a day in the mountains will get their money’s worth in the spa and wellness area as well as in the restaurants.
There is more about Chedi Andermatt in my report from 2014. You can find the current availability and prices here (Partnerlink).
